How to Research Public Schools and Attendance Zones in North Texas

School research is an important part of many home searches, but the most useful question is not “Which school is best?” It is “Which schools, programs, transportation options, and services apply to this exact address—and how do they fit our child and family?” Attendance boundaries and programs can change, and a nearby school or city name is not a guarantee of assignment.

Use primary sources before you make a housing decision

The Texas Education Agency directs families to the TXschools.gov School Finder, the Texas School District Locator, and district information tools for school, district, accountability, enrollment, and contact information. Those sources are more dependable than a real-estate listing, a map pin, a third-party score, or a citywide claim.

Find official Texas school research tools through the Texas Education Agency.

Lewisville ISD: verify the exact home address

Lewisville ISD serves Highland Village, Flower Mound, and other North Texas communities. Its official School Locator instructs families to enter a full house address and click near the location to display attendance zones. The district recommends contacting Student Services for questions. Confirm the exact address before you rely on an assigned campus, bus route, program, or boundary.

Argyle ISD: review current report cards

Argyle ISD publishes links to its federal report cards, Texas Academic Performance Reports, and Texas Education Agency school report cards. These reports provide a better foundation for researching a district or campus than an undated ranking. They should be read alongside a conversation with the district and a review of the current boundary for the particular property.

A practical address-by-address research checklist

  1. Enter the exact current or prospective property address in the relevant district’s official locator.
  2. Confirm the applicable school year, grade level, attendance zone, transportation options, and any boundary-change notices directly with the district.
  3. Review current TEA and district report-card resources in context; one number cannot describe every child’s experience or every program.
  4. Ask about programs that matter to your child, such as special education, multilingual services, gifted and talented, fine arts, CTE, athletics, or advanced coursework.
  5. Visit the neighborhood and test the actual morning and afternoon commute before choosing a home.

How this fits into a thoughtful home search

Collin can help you compare homes, neighborhoods, commute routes, property conditions, and the timing of a move. He will point you to the correct official resources, but school assignment and program eligibility must be independently confirmed with the school district before you make a purchase decision.
